The short version. We collect the account details you give us and basic analytics about how the site is used. We use them to run the site and send you things you asked for. We do not sell your data. Email us and we will delete your account.

You can browse the bullet library, forms, and awards without an account. If you create one, we store:
Profile fields other than email are optional in practice — you can leave them blank or enter only what you're comfortable sharing. We use them to tailor content and email, not to identify you to anyone else.
We do not ask for and do not want your Social Security number, DoD ID, service number, home address, phone number, date of birth, medical information, security clearance details, or any classified or Controlled Unclassified Information. Please do not enter any of that anywhere on this site.
When you use the AI generator, the notes you type are sent to OpenAI for processing and a draft is returned to you. Your rank is sent along with them. We do not currently store the generated drafts in your account — they exist in your browser for that session only.
Because your input leaves our servers, do not enter classified information, CUI, or personal details about other people. OpenAI's handling of API data is governed by their privacy policy.
If you subscribe to the newsletter or create an account, your email address — and where available your rank, rate, years of service, and stated interests — may be sent to Beehiiv, our email provider, so we can send relevant content rather than the same message to everyone.
Every email includes an unsubscribe link. Unsubscribing stops the email but does not delete your site account — see below for that.

You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings; blocking the session cookie will prevent you from logging in. You can opt out of Google Analytics entirely with the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on.
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it with advertisers or data brokers. We share only with the service providers needed to run the site:
We may also disclose information if required by law, or to protect the safety, rights, or property of our users or ourselves.
Account information is kept until you ask us to delete it. Analytics data is retained according to our Google Analytics settings. Server logs are retained on our host's standard schedule.
You can view and update your profile at any time from your account. To request a copy of your data or have your account and associated data deleted, email support@navyevalwriter.com from the address on the account and say what you want. We will action it within 30 days.
Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights over your personal data — including access, correction, deletion, and objecting to certain processing. Contact us at the address above and we'll honor them regardless of where you're located.
Passwords are hashed, never stored in plain text, and the site is served over HTTPS. That said, no website is perfectly secure. Please use a password you don't reuse anywhere else, and don't store anything sensitive in your profile.
This site is intended for serving members and veterans and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect information from children under 13. If you believe a child has given us information, email us and we'll remove it.
If we change how we handle your information, we'll update this page and the "last updated" date above. Material changes will be noted on the site.
